At the CISSA Conference in Benghazi, African media leaders were urged to step beyond reporting and embrace a more active role in shaping the continent’s security narrative.

Chaired by Dr. Mohamed Sharaf El-Din, the Media Committee convened an expanded meeting with media representatives from across Africa, echoing the vision of Lieutenant General Hussein Al-Aib, Head of the Libyan Intelligence Service.

“The media is not merely a transmitter of news, it is a strategic partner,” Dr. Sharaf El-Din emphasized. He called on journalists to highlight the victories of intelligence and security agencies in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, and cyber threats.

The committee pushed for practical proposals that would unify media discourse on Africa’s most pressing security concerns while building public trust in national institutions.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold regular collaborative sessions, to strengthen coordination and ensure African media speaks with one clear, confident voice in support of peace and stability.
