Benghazi,
Libya | August 21, 2025 –
Africa is once
again taking its security future into its own hands. In Benghazi this week,
experts from the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa
(CISSA) gathered for three days of high-level dialogue, setting the stage for
the upcoming summit of the continent’s intelligence and security chiefs.
This was not just another closed-door meeting. It was a bold attempt to answer one of the most urgent questions of our time: How can Africa protect itself from cross-border security threats?
The experts’ deliberations is expected to touch upon issues that define the continent’s stability and development. Terrorism, Irregular Migration, Transnational Organized Crime and Cybersecurity
The recommendations emerging from this meeting will be presented to the Heads of African Intelligence and Security Agencies later this year. More than paperwork, these are strategies designed to give African leaders a roadmap for rapid, collective responses.
For too long, global narratives about Africa’s security have been written elsewhere, often through a lens of dependency and weakness. Benghazi is an emblem that Africa is not waiting for solutions from outside.
By aligning visions and pooling intelligence, CISSA is helping African nations reclaim agency over their peace and security. The Benghazi meeting is not about despair over Africa’s challenges. It is about charting a future where stability becomes the foundation for growth, integration, and dignity.
As African View continues to spotlight continental progress, Benghazi stands out as a symbol: when Africans come together to safeguard their people and their future, the story is no longer about threats, it is about resilience and renaissance.
